Your lunar age and month, calculated for you

Traditional versions commonly use Chinese lunar age and lunar conception month. Modern browsers can convert your Gregorian dates automatically.

This chart is folklore, not a medical test. A large population study found the Chinese lunar calendar method was no better than a coin toss.

Rows represent lunar age 18–45; columns represent lunar conception months 1–12. Different websites circulate different versions, which is another reason not to treat the chart as factual.

How it works

What is the Chinese gender calendar?

The Chinese gender calendar—also called a Chinese baby gender chart or Chinese gender predictor—is a traditional lookup table. A lunar age intersects with a lunar conception month to produce a boy or girl guess.

How we calculate lunar age

The calculator converts the birth and conception dates to the Chinese calendar, then uses the traditional “year count plus one” age convention. Ages outside the chart's common 18–45 range are limited to its nearest available row.

Where did the chart come from?

Many online stories connect it to the Qing dynasty or a royal tomb, but the exact origin is difficult to verify. It is safest to describe it as a widely circulated folk chart rather than a documented historical diagnostic method.

Is the Chinese gender predictor accurate?

No. A study using 2.8 million Swedish births found the Chinese lunar calendar method performed no better than tossing a coin. Enjoy the coincidence, but rely on qualified prenatal care for real information.

Chinese gender calendar FAQ

Do I need to know my lunar age?

No. Enter your normal date of birth and estimated conception date; the calculator converts both.

What if I only know my due date?

You can estimate conception at about 266 days before the due date, but individual pregnancies vary.

Why does another chart give a different answer?

Multiple chart patterns circulate online. There is no medically validated master version.

Can this chart confirm fetal sex?

No. It is an entertainment tradition and performs at roughly chance level.
